Jeraldine Egleson Obituary

Jeraldine Victory Egleson, 82, of Paradise, CA, passed peacefully at home on
March 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Oh, what a joyous day
when she joined her Heavenly family awaiting her arrival!
Jerri was born on June 7, 1941 in Coweta, OK to Lloyd Lee and Flossie Lee
Victory, and was one of eleven siblings in a home filled with an abundance of
love. Jerri was so tiny when she was born, her grandma nicknamed her
“Betoot”, and all her life she’s been called “Betoot” by her family. During the
years that the Victory family lived in Yankee Hill, “Betoot” and her siblings
rode the school bus each day to Oroville Union High School, and she later
graduated in 1959.
Jerri met Danny Egleson in the summer of 1959 at Nelson Bar Bridge while
swimming with her sisters. Danny was quickly smitten with her, and they
were married on Christmas Eve that same year at the Egleson residence on
Wagstaff Road in Paradise, CA.
After graduating high school, Jerri worked for a short time as a stenographer
for the Agricultural Extension Service in Oroville, CA. Once married, Danny
and Jerri moved to Placerville, CA, where their daughter Lori was born in
1963. Shortly after, they moved back to Paradise where they continued to
grow their family, and in 1965, their only son Lonnie was born. Five years
later, they completed their family with their youngest daughter Lisa in 1970.
Jerri was a loving and devoted stay-at-home mother for many years. In 1976,
once all her children were attending school, she began volunteering at
Ponderosa Elementary School, and was soon hired as a Teacher’s Aide. She
then transitioned to Office Secretary, and eventually retired as the Principal’s
Secretary. Jerri had a deep love for her job and all of the Ponderosa staff and
students, and dedicated 29 years to the Paradise Unified School District. In
addition to her employment with PUSD, Jerri was very much involved with
Paradise Little League, Paradise Junior Football, Junior Women’s Club, and
many other community organizations and events.
After retiring from Ponderosa Elementary, Jerri continued to enjoy spending
her time gardening with Danny at their home in Paradise, participating in all
her grandchildren’s daily lives, weekly visits with her sisters, camping at

Philbrook Lake, taking trips to Fort Bragg, and traveling back home to
Oklahoma to visit family.
Jerri’s greatest love was her family. She had a special relationship with each
of her children, her four grandchildren, and most recently fell in love with her
great-grandson Quentin, and his baby sister to be born in May. Jerri was
proud to learn that her great-granddaughter will be blessed with the middle
name Jeraldine.
Everyone who knew Jerri knew of her selflessness, pure heart, and
unconditional love for all. Jerri was always willing to help in any way, and
was most likely praying for you.
Jerri’s love for Jesus was exemplified in her prayer life and her everyday life,
where she continually prayed for her loved ones, her friends, and even for
those she didn’t know.
Because she treasured this life and her precious friends and family, Jerri was
torn knowing she had to leave, but ultimately rejoiced in the blessed
assurance of meeting Jesus face-to-face, and being reunited with her son,
Lonnie, in Heaven. Jerri will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63
years, Danny Egleson, daughter Lori Lindblad and husband Terry, daughter
Lisa Egleson Diego and husband Keith, grandson Lonnie Diego,
granddaughters Brandi Pepper, Shayla Noble, and Kyla Diego, and great-
grandson Quentin Pepper. Jerri will be deeply missed by her brother Derrell
Don Victory, sisters Carol Dean Bowlin, Irma Paulette McClain, Phyllis Kay
Schoel, Gerry Sue Strawmier, Debra Mae Corley, and Rebekah Lynn
Patterson, and her many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews,
of whom she greatly loved and adored. She is preceded in death by her father
Lloyd Lee Victory, mother Flossie Lee (McMillian) Victory, brother Donald
Eugene Victory, sister Wilma Maudeen Martin, sister Ruth Ann Rosamond,
and son Lonnie Dale Egleson.
