Lawrence (Larry) Raymond Van Lindt was born on May 30, 1934, in Oroville, California. He lived a long and meaningful life defined by service, devotion to family, and quiet strength. He was the son of Raymond Acie Van Lindt and Ella Lillian Jones and was raised in Rackerby, California, by his beloved grandparents, Grant A. Van Lindt and Jennie Elizabeth Edmonds, whose guidance and care helped shape the man he would become.
In the summer of 1952, Larry answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. As a proud Marine and Korean War veteran, he carried the values of honor, courage, and commitment with him throughout his life.
On June 14, 1959, Larry married the love of his life, Hazel Gay Pierson. Together they built a life rooted in love and partnership, sharing 66 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with five children, who in turn blessed Larry with a growing legacy of 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest pride and joy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Acie Van Lindt and Ella Lillian Jones, and by his two sisters, Marva and Marlene. He is survived by his beloved wife, Hazel; his five children; his 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia.
Larry will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his unwavering love for his family, and the steady presence he provided to all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the generations who carry his name and spirit forward.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial viewing from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at Scheer Memorial Chapel, 2410 Foothill Blvd., Oroville, CA. A graveside service will follow from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5646 Lincoln Blvd., Oroville, CA. We will gather to honor and celebrate the life of our Dad/Papa Larry, and your presence and support during this time of remembrance are deeply appreciated.
